About Forever Oceans:
Q: Who is Forever Oceans?
A: Forever Oceans is a sustainable seafood company based in Gainesville Virginia that uses technology to raise contaminant-free fish offshore in deep ocean environments. Our mission is to nourish the world with delicious seafood through eco-friendly innovation.
Q: Where are the deep water facilities for Forever Oceans?
A: We currently have locations in Panama, Indonesia, Brazil and our original deep water location in Hawaii, USA.
Q: How are you different than other fish suppliers?
A: At Forever Oceans, we raise our own fish offshore in deep waters. This allows us to cultivate high quality fish in a clean, health and completely natural environment.
Q: How is Forever Oceans Sustainable?
A: We use advanced technology in our deep water environments to work with the natural currents to remove any contaminants so we are able to raise our fish without the use of antibiotics or hormones. By utilizing the ocean's powers off-shore, we have room to responsibly scale our production to reduce stress on the fish and improve their health and reducing environmental impact. Our fish live within our enclosures in harmony with other ocean wildlife.
About our Fish:
Q: What is Forever Oceans Kanpachi?
A: A fish that is raised offshore in the deep ocean through our sustainable enclosures. It has a flaky and buttery flavor and is high in Omega-3's and has no detectable mercury. The biological name is seriola rivoliana.
Q: Why should I try Forever Oceans Kanpachi?
A: Kanpachi has many health benefits including being an excellent source of Omega 3's. But omega 3 fats aren't the only nutritional reward from eating Kanpachi, it's also a great source of protein along with iron, calcium, zinc and magnesium. It is a sashimi grade fish with a dense texture and buttery flavor that is different from other fish, and can hold up to most cooking methods or can be consumed raw in sushi. Forever Oceans Kanpachi is sustainably raised in deep water far from the shore to naturally flush away contaminants so we don't need hormones or preventative antibiotics and it does not negatively effect the environment.
Q: Is Kanpachi easy to cook?
A: Kanpachi is very easy to cook and so versatile, from sauté to roasting, from BBQ to poaching and everything in between works perfectly. Also because of the high fat content of the fish, you’ll find it very hard to over cook it. In addition, Forever Oceans Kanpachi is sashimi grade and can be eaten raw.
Q: How is the fish prepared for shipping?
A: Our Forever Oceans Kanpachi is removed from the enclosures when it reaches it's full-grown size. Any fish that is intended for poke or loin is flash frozen once prepared to lock in nutrients and preserve freshness. Once frozen we ship all our fish from the ocean location to our central shipping location in Hudson, Wisconsin to reduce transit time for our customers.
Q: How do I defrost frozen fish?
A: The safest way to thaw fish is slowly, place the fish on a tray, then place in the refrigerator and allow it to thaw for about 24 hours before using. Once thawed use your fish within 10 days.
